Amrit Yoga Recommendation

May 29, 2014

amritYoga serves many purposes which tie in very nicely to my mental training teachings.

There is no question that yoga helps a person to build strength, and flexibility. It is common to see a person that practices yoga regularly as having a long, lean, toned body.

When I first learned of yoga, I remember thinking “Well, some of those positions don’t look much different than the floor exercises and stretches I had learned in gym class.”

I have come to learn that nothing could be further from the truth.

Yoga has many, many benefits to our mind, body and spiritual lives. The physical benefits are the most obvious, but the benefit of the mind and spirit are profound.

But don’t take my word on it, you can search for all the studies yourself.

These are the benefits to yoga and meditation that you’ll find have been scientifically validated:

  • Decreased stress
  • Reduced symptoms associated with:
    • Depression
    • Anxiety disorders
    • Pain
    • Insomnia
  • Enhanced ability to pay attention
  • Increased quality of life

Neuroscientist Sara Lazar’s amazing brain scans show how yoga and meditation can actually change the size of key regions of our brain, improving our memory and making us more empathetic, compassionate, and resilient under stress.

Meditation is a huge part of what occurs during yoga. And know that meditation and hypnosis are the same. They are both levels of relaxation for which a person journey’s to using the same type of techniqes. Therefore, the practice of one compliments the familiarity with the other.

I recommend Amrit Yoga to many of my clients because it is one form of yoga that has stayed true to it’s roots. Many yoga practices have been altered to fit into the gym and fitness world, and instructors have made them more like an aerobic exerice.
