Inspirational 9-year-old organizes triathlon for kids with disabilities

March 31, 2016

Almost one year after 9-year-old Bailey Matthews, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at a young age, stole all of our hearts by finishing a triathlon in England without his walker, he continues to inspire us all.

Matthews is planning on setting up his own triathlon for kids who have disabilities as well in hopes to inspire them to dream big.

The event, “Be More Bailey Triathlon,” will take place on July 17th in Derby. All racers compete for free, and parents are encouraged to be alongside their child even if they have no triathlon training.

“The idea behind the triathlon is to give people a chance to be a part of it, even if they’re not confident they can do it,” Bailey’s father, Jono Matthews told TODAY.com.

In last year’s triathlon, Bailey rode 4 kilometers on his bike, swam 100 meters and ran 1.3 kilometers.
