June’s Theme is Less Stress, Greater Joy
Overlooking the ocean that is less than 300 feet away, facing east the thought this morning was to wake up and watch the sunrise. It just so happens to be overcast this morning, misty, and windy. I woke up expecting to see the sunrise, and when I saw the clouds, I realized how much we put our faith and stock in the weather. And when it doesn’t perform to our exact liking, we get mad, or anxious, or concerned, angered and frustrated. We can relate all of this to things in our lives. If you have certain expectations that things are supposed to happen a certain way, and then they don’t, you can become very frustrated and stressed. Anger, resentment, worry, fear, all those things are stress triggers. If you go about your day living with that kind of attitude, it just fuels your body’s response to all those stressors and creates unhealthy living. This quote is apropos for this morning: “Do not worry about whether or not the sun will rise. Be prepared to enjoy it.”
June’s Theme is Less Stress, Greater Joy
Today I am blogging about how to live joyfully in your life; go about your day getting a little more enjoyment out of it. Today’s quote is by Marianne Williamson which I am sure you have all heard of her. She is a successful business woman who has written nearly a dozen best sellers. The quote is: “Joy is what happens when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.” And the funny thing is, it is amazing to pause for a second and really let those words seep into
June’s Theme is Less Stress, Greater Joy
How often have you tried to lessen the stress in your life, or experience greater joy? What if I could help you to live a life with a lot less stress and a lot more happiness? I can tell you that my clients and I are living proof that it is possible, so I know it can be for you too.
The first week of June marks one of the most competitive sporting events of the year for clay shooters. If history repeats itself, the US Open Clay Shooting Championship 2014 will draw more than 1000 entrants. The competition will be held at the Claythorne Lodge in Columbus, Kansas. Wendell Cherry, who was inducted into the NSCA Hall of Fame in 2012 will be competing; as will John Woolley and a few other great sportsmen and women who I have the privilege to call clients.
Great article from The Mind Unleashed
A fabulous down-to-earth explanation to help us understand that, not only, is there an incredibly powerful power that exists; but that we can tap into it. And, tap into it as confidently as when we plug into a wall outlet and expect there to be power available. Pam Grout even lays it on the line that it doesn’t matter what religion you are, or if you are even religious at all, that it doesn’t matter what you call the ‘power’ as it exists either way. And she’s prepared to prove it to you in nine do-it-yourself experiments. Good stuff!
Yoga serves many purposes which tie in very nicely to my mental training teachings.
There is no question that yoga helps a person to build strength, and flexibility. It is common to see a person that practices yoga regularly as having a long, lean, toned body.
When I first learned of yoga, I remember thinking “Well, some of those positions don’t look much different than the floor exercises and stretches I had learned in gym class.”
I have come to learn that nothing could be further from the truth.
Wendell Cherry, John Woolley, Gebben Miles…Do any of these names ring a bell? If not, you are probably not familiar with the world of clay shooting. If you recognized one or more of these names, then you are aware of how easy these competitors make shooting look! The art of shooting clay targets has been around for ages, but it hasn’t always been looked at through the same pair of sport- lenses, like golf or football. Although it’s “Greats” don’t have preeminent public reputations the way that Peyton Manning or David Beckham do, their abilities are just as noteworthy. These competitors travel throughout the globe, with guns in tow, as they break more than just records and win tournament after tournament.
May’s Theme is Breaking Bad Habits
I am pretty sure that all of us, at one time or another have told a white lie, whether it was out of fear, feelings, to gain respect, or simply saving face. Our brains flipped a switch and the lie came forth on our tongues. Some people even think they are doing the right thing because, in their head, they are saving someone embarrassment, hurt, or inevitable consequences.
