From a young age I knew I wanted to help children live happier, healthier lives. After earning my college degree, I set out into the world and started my career as a Children’s Case Manager and later as a Child Victim Advocate for the State Attorney’s Office where I learned first-hand, kids needed to learn the power of positive thinking just as much as adults.
Although these were rewarding positions, I knew deep within me that I possessed a desire to help people make more profound positive changes than what I was witnessing. Life experiences guided me into the field of hypnotherapy, and with the use of these advance techniques, my clients were able to make significant changes fairly rapidly. As a hypnotherapist, most of my clients in my private practice have been adults. Adults who are caught up in negative patterns of thinking, or habits they feel they are a victim of. Negative patterns in thinking are forms of self-talk which are limiting in nature, even when a person has good intentions for themselves or their life, they can be stuck in a rut of negative thoughts. Examples of such are beliefs like, “I am not smart enough,” “I am not good enough,” or “can’t do that.”
When a person has spent years repeating negative thought or habits, the reinforcement causes these thoughts and actions to go on autopilot, repeating in one’s life seemingly mindlessly. What is shocking to a mental trainer, like me, is people have very little knowledge on how to stop the limiting, dismal perceptions and habits. Even less awareness the thoughts are even occurring. And, sadly, little to no understanding of how to deliberately improve their perceptions and, therefore, their lives.
So, now that you understand the challenge faced by many adults… imagine how different our lives could have been if we understood from a young age the power of our mind and the concepts of positive thinking! As we want what is best for our children and the upcoming generations, desiring for them greater success, health, and happiness, it is imperative that we teach them to use the full potential of their thoughts and mind. Together, let’s encourage in our little ones the awareness of the beauty both within them and around them.
