We have all heard how important it is to drink water and you have heard that the body is made up of a large percentage of water and that we need to stay hydrated and drink water throughout the day. We hear things like we should be drinking eight glasses of water a day and drink before and after exercise. I have even heard that we should drink a glass of water first thing in the morning. The benefits of drinking water are endless. Water is essential to our health and well being. When your body has proper hydration, it can perform at it’s best.
Coming from personal experience, I know it is not easy to drink a lot of water. For years I was lucky to drink one glass of water a day. I remember sometimes going a couple days without drinking water. So I know very well all the excuses and reasons for not drinking water. I know that there is a concern that the more I drink, the more I will have to use the bathroom and that is an inconvenience. There is the complaint of taste as well. Some people just cannot fathom drinking water because it either lacks taste to them or it doesn’t taste good. I get it, sometimes the quality of the water isn’t the best. If you live in an area where the water quality is poor, you might not like the water that you get from your faucet. There are circles of people that don’t want to drink the water from the facet because of the Fluoride that has been added. Fluoridated water is found in almost every single state. Many people think that Fluoride is toxic to your body. I know there are so many reasons not to drink water. But why don’t we look at the reasons to drink water.
Water is vital to our health. Period. The human body is anywhere between 55-78% water. The variation between the percentage is depended upon your body size. The basic rule of thumb is 2/3 of the human body consists of water. The main component of your body that controls every single function throughout every single cell, muscle, nerve, is water. Your tissues, your organs, everything is made up of water. Here is the breakdown. Your muscle is 75% water. Your brain is 90% water. Your bones are 22% water. Your blood is 83% water. If we pause and think about this for a moment, if I am not consuming healthy amounts of water throughout my day, how are the inside-workings of my body going to perform? They cannot reach their optimal level of performance without water. You can only imagine what starts happening when your body parts aren’t getting supplied the amount of water that they need to survive.
We have all heard of dehydration. As a matter of fact, I have experienced dehydration once when I was pregnant and I wasn’t able to keep food down and I couldn’t drink water. I went in for a routine OB appointment and the moment the nurse came out into the waiting room she saw my face. I had black rings under my eyes. I felt weak. My head was foggy. My eyesight was unable to focus. I felt lethargic and sleepy. They immediately took me in and admitted me to the hospital to regain proper hydration in my body. Dehydration occurs when you have a loss of fluids, mostly water, and it exceeds the amount that you are taking in. If you are not taking in water, then your body is not able to function properly. We lose water every second of every day through the vapors in your breath, through sweat, urine and stool. Along with water, small amounts of salts and minerals are lost. When we lose too much water and we don’t take in water, our bodies become imbalanced or dehydrated. As you are probably not surprised, severe dehydration can lead to death.
Some of the symptoms of dehydration are increased thirst, dizziness, weakness, heart palpitations, confusion, sluggishness, fainting, inability to sweat, decreased urine output, dry-mouth, swollen tongue. Obviously, we are not able to function, barely surviving if we are dehydrated. Lets stop and realize if we are not drinking enough water, we are living day-to-day at some level of dehydration. Your body is walking around impaired.
I have created a hypnosis audio to help you drink more water. It will help you ingrain into your subconscious mind the reasons to drink more water. If you are wondering of you need to drink more water or not, one really easy way to know if you are drinking enough water is that your urine should be clear with a slight tinge of yellow. If your urine is concentrated, you may already be dehydrated. The amount of water that we should be drinking is a simple equation. Find out your body weight in pounds. Divide that in half. That number in ounces, is how much we should drink every day. If I weigh 120 pounds. I divide that by half. That number is 60. I should be drinking 60 ounces of water a day. If you are drinking much less than half your body weight in ounces, then it is time to bump it up. My product Drinking More Water Hypnosis can help you achieve optimal levels of success.
