Acceptance of Life
I think that wisdom is passed down over the years through some great quotes. Some quotes have been observed as really crucial towards our perceptions of life. A lot of people understand the information in quotes as essential wisdom and they like to implement it into their lives. Acceptance of Life is probably one of the hardest Virtues to work on, but it is also very rewarding. Learning to accept life and all it’s ups and downs shows wisdom, maturity, and courage. The quote I chose today is from Ida R. Wylie: “We must accept life for what it actually is — a challenge to our quality without which we should never know of what stuff we are made, or grow to our full potential or stature.”
If we take a look at the quote for a moment and ask ourselves, how much of your life do you accept for what it is? It is really easy to accept the good days. When everything is going according to your plans, it’s not a bid deal. But when we fall on hard times, when we are up against a wall, more often than not, we get upset, stressed, angry and frustrated. Stepping out of your box for a moment and evaluating your life will help you to see what is meant by this quote. When we face challenges, we should take it with grace, because there is a chance for us to grow, to better ourselves.
This quote should stimulate your brain to look at life as it exists. I tell my clients pretty often that on the easy-breezy days that there really isn’t much motivation to change. In order to evolve, grow into an overall healthy person, mentally, physically, spiritually, then we need certain challenges to try us, to see what we are made of, to make us stronger. This only helps us cope and bring out the best we have to offer. When you start to look at life that way, there becomes a great acceptance. Feeling acceptance of life is rewarding not only for yourself, but to others within your circle.
Wouldn’t you like to be able to say that you respect and accept life for what it is each and every day? You can start with small affirmations. These affirmations are meant to be said throughout the day. Their intentions are to change the way you think and perceive. Implementing these affirmations will help you live in truth and acceptance. The two affirmations for Acceptance of Life are these: 1) Each day I am improving on my ability to accept life as it is, even the parts I would like to work on and change. 2) I accept life as it is, my job, my family, my living situation, my environment, my relationships.
If you have not already worked on the first two applications of Acceptance, I urge you to do so. Click here to be taken to the Living the Virtues Series blog posts.
